The name is Rae, Rae Best. I was born in a small cornfield in Illinois. I experienced Columbia College in Chicago and attained a degree in Sculpture and Painting in 2009. While living in Chicago, I simultaneously ran an independent movie theater and made props and puppets for film and stage performances. In 2018, I returned to academic life to pursue a master's degree in Animation from the Academy of Art University online. The loss of my job and a pause in education due to the pandemic inspired the relocation of my base of operations to Los Angeles. I live with my partner and two cats in a boot somewhere in Glassell Park, where I create wild sculptural stories out of wire and dream of a shoebox.
